Types of slides
There are different types of slides depending on the spindle applications. We give below description of some important types of spindle slides.
Regular Duty Basic Style
The standard spindle slides are useful for a broad range of applications whenever the load induced into the spindle assembly is moderate and a compact design is essential. These slides, having adjustable gibs, ensure accurate motion of the spindle and also offer a wide range of uses in the construction of automated machines. The slide assemblies comprises a base, carrier, gib, and gib adjusting screws.
Regular Duty Lead Screw
These slide assemblies are very useful when correct manual positioning or feeding is required. Standard features of this type of slide are a precision lead screw, a micrometer dial to display carrier movement and a balanced crank handle for ease in advancing and retracting the carrier or base.
Air or Hydraulic Cylinder Powered slide
These slide assemblies are preferred for quick-action movements and for repeatability, in tooling, fixturing, and parts positioning. Working pressures are indicated. Special cushioning and valving can also be provided.
Air Cylinder Powered Slide
These are powered by the action of an air cylinder for rapid achieving of the desired working range of the unit. The rate of approaching speed is controlled with the help of an added easily installed control valve. These cylinder powered slide units are provided with hydraulic control.
Heavy Duty Basic Style Slide
They are useful for a broad range of applications where the work's nature requires a rugged construction than the normal duty assemblies. Greater stability and capacity are achieved by the thickness of the carrier and base. The increased height of the slide also allows greater flexibility for machining mounting requirements.
Heavy Duty Recessed Base Slide
They feature versatility because they are available in any incremental length. The recessed design in the slide base makes it possible to install a carrier drive inside the base which allows a more compact design when mounting.
Flange Base Slide
These slides are available with a mounting flange.
Heavy Duty Lead Screw Slide
They are available with their rugged construction having heavy sectional profiles and are useful in precise movement and feeding mounted tools into working range. They assure best possible slide positioning.
Dovetail Slide
Dovetail slides are composed of a saddle (moving member) and a mortise (fixed base) and are direct contact systems where the sliding area is the bearing system of the dovetail slide. Since the surface contact is verylarge, these slides are ideal for heavy load applications and industrial uses.
